WEEK 7 – WOW! And am still enjoying the walking and the capturing of random moments in time.
IN PLANE SIGHT I love the fact that the phone on my camera captured what I have tried to do on other cameras.
IS IT A BIRD? IS IT A PLANE? Well, yes to the second one. No Superman in sight this time.
SKY HIGH Gorgeous, clear, sunny day.
GETTING SET For a change I was quite near the front. This is only about the 3rd, perhaps 4th, time I have actually participated as my hubby Kelvin, son Cameron and I usually do behind the scenes work. This year I chose to walk and they chose to help.
IS MY SHIP ABOUT TO COME IN? Perhaps not quite yet - just like in this picture, 'my' ship is far away on the horizon.
ROCKET SCIENCE - I have no idea what rockets have to do with Christmas. Anyhoo (no typo), I do believe that our Festive lights are going to be LIT-erally the best ever.
STAR-ters - this tree is near the start of the race and the tree itself looks quite a tree-t.
COASTING - East London has an amazing coastline, one which many covet and yet we have access to it every day. Oh, and by the way, I was 'coasting' along as I walked as well - taking in the sights, sounds and smells and enjoying every moment of it.
ANGEL ON HIGH - Yay! A representation of the true meaning of Christ-mas.
AGE OF AQUARIUS - Though not as huge as the 3 Oceans Aquarium in my beloved Cape Town, our aquarium is an extremely informative one.
SEAVIEW - Amazing how properties with just a teensy weensy itsy bitsy seaview are valued so much higher than ones without one.
SURF & TURF - well rocks and sea anyway.
ROCK POOLS - Just another example of the beauty of God's creation.
LAND AHOY - Distant dunes define delight
CONSTRUCTURE and beyond this is construction of sorts.
RUN FOREST, RUN - Well, there is a tree there so let's pretend it's part of a forest.
RUN RAGGED - Gracious! From whence doth come their energy?
SOLO FLIGHT - This young lad is clearly enjoying his seaside sprint.
SPECTACULAR This spectator has a good vantage point.
ARTFUL ACT - Very clever. Display one's wares for runners / walkers to see in the hope they will return to purchase the items.
PHOTO SHOOT I shot the Sheriff ... Oh wait, that's a Daily Dispatch photographer - capturing another momentous moment - this time me doing the Fun Run.
DOGGONE IT - The only way to describe these 2 canines: BEAUTIFUL!
GOOD DOGGIES - Look how well-behaved they are.
FOOTPRINTS Sadly, I didn't make it down onto the beach - but ... I did walk in the sand that had been blown onto the pavement at some stage.
MAN HOLE - Positioned where this is, the caption to this photo could have read as "Man IN hole" - extremely unsafe.
BOULDERS YES, BOTTLES NO - Why oh why oh why are people so inconsiderate
CRACKING UP - Trip hazard alert!
GLASS WHERE? Broken Glass everywhere!
TREASURE SEEKER - While others surf, this gent chooses to search.
GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY - Hope this gent found what he was looking for.
PROMENADE ALONG THE ESPLANADE - I could tag these 3 but I don't think they'll be charmed. Let's just call them D1, D2, C1.
TURNING POINT - Halfway through the walk and a half-pat on the back for making it this far. It's not about the distance but the goals achieved.
RIVER OF RAGE - This is / was called the 'Blind' River. Why the term 'rage'? Well, it's because I am extremely angry at it's unnatural colour - human(un)kind is not good for nature.
BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERS - No more words needed.
LIFESAVING - Lifesaver's shack. At least that is still here ... not much else remains in this area from my childhood.
ROCK BOTTOM - Kind of symbolises man's attitude about respect for nature ...
BOTHERSOME BOTTLES - Am sick and tired of seeing these, literally, everywhere.
SEA, SAND AND ... wait for it ... another bottle (bottom centre of photo)
SOFT SOAPING, not with words, but with this display of enticing ornaments.
CRAFTY These two vendors are also the craftsmen of these and other items, from what I could gather.
COLOUR MY WORLD - Such lovely, colourful jewellery.
IN STEP - One of the things I love about this Fun Run is that it is so family friendly.
ME TIME - Couldn't resist the urge to take a selfie.
DREAMS ABANDONED - This building has seen a variety of businesses over the years and none of them seem to go the distance despite the beautiful vista it has. Remember O'Hagans?
PEG LEG While the other poles are dancing on their feet, this one seems to be doing a dance en pointe.
STONED - Love this photo.
WALK THIS WAY Boardwalk within the confines of the Aquarium.

ALO(E)NE - This is the solo potted aloe that I noticed along the esplanade.
VIEW-TIFUL - 'nuff said.
POTTY - Same plant, different angle.
PIER-ING OUT IN THE DISTANCE - Our pier.
PRICKLY SUBJECT - Rubbish to that - we need to discuss and resolve this issue of irresponsible waste disposal.
PRETTY SHARP - Wonderful how such an ugly plant can have such beautiful blooms (Life lesson?)
THORN AMONGST THE ROSES? Plastic amongst the plants.
ORIENT-ATION - Just about there!
THE END IS NIGH - Just ... a ... few ... more ... steps ... and I'm there!
MIRROR IMAGE - That's the thing about selfies - any wording in them is a mirror image i.e. reversed.
HASHTAGGED - A helper removes the coded tag from my takkies. Well, she did offer.
FANTA-STIC - Fanta is good ... Coca-Cola is not just better, but it's the BEST!
CHEERS And so, I stand ... at the end of the race (ha ha - no race for me - just a walk in the park really)
WAVES OF SUCCESS Kholose, like me, also completed the Fun Run / Walk
COOLING OFF PERIOD - Many, understandably, cooled off in the sea afterwards.
HANDY - Really convenient to have a phone with camera capabilities such as we have these days.
POND(ER) NO MORE - You are looking at what used to be a fish pond ....
SHELTERED - This part is still beautiful, though you will still find the usual unnatural products lying around and littering the ground.
LOVE NEST - Take a closer look if you haven't seen it already - this nest is in the shape of a heart.
DECKED OUT - Speaks for itself methings.
SUMMER OF FUN - That's my number ... just don't dial it, you won't reach me.
