Cambridge Primary School pupil Courtney-Rose Pike has delivered a record-breaking performance at the Rhodes University Indoor 2026 Archery Competition, cementing her place as one of the Eastern Cape’s brightest young archery talents.
The grade 6 pupil competed in the tournament held over the weekend after spending much of her school holidays training and refining her skills.
Her dedication paid off on the opening day when she recorded two new personal best scores, both of which have been recognised as new Eastern Cape U13 girls’ records.
She also achieved her first Eastern Cape provincial qualifying score of the season, placing her on course to earn Eastern Cape provincial colours once she secures three more qualifying scores.
Courtney-Rose continued her impressive form on the second day by shooting an outstanding 282 out of 300 in a single round. The remarkable performance earned her the gold medal while setting another Eastern Cape record and a new high score in her division.
Averaging more than 9.3 points from every arrow, she displayed exceptional consistency, precision and composure under pressure.
The school praised Courtney-Rose not only for her achievements on the range but also for her humility and determination, noting that she remains focused on improving ahead of the Eastern Cape District Championships in August.
Archery demands discipline, patience, concentration and mental resilience, and Courtney-Rose’s success reflects the rewards of hard work and perseverance.
